LINCOLN — No. 11 Nebraska finished its regular season by winning nine of 10 matches in rolling to a 39-6 dual win over Northwestern Friday night.
The Huskers got bonus-point wins in five of the matches.
Juniors Tim Lambert (125 pounds) and TJ Dudley (184) picked up first-period pins. Tyler Berger (157) led 12-1 after the first period and went on to record a 20-5 technical fall, and Austin Wilson (165) earned a 15-2 major decision. At 149, Colton McCrystal won by forfeit.
In the only match involving a pair of nationally ranked opponents, Nebraska’s Eric Montoya, ranked 12th, turned back No. 20 Dominick Malone 4-1 at 133 pounds. Montoya led 1-0 entering the third period before securing the win.
Northwestern’s lone victory came at 141 as Jameson Oster pinned Anthony Abidin. Abidin led 2-0 after the first period before Oster pinned him 54 seconds into the second.
The Huskers return to action Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Devaney Center for the NWCA National Duals. Nebraska’s opponent will be determined on Sunday.
