The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team will try to improve on its landings when it competes at Iowa State on Sunday.

North Carolina State and UW LaCrosse also will be part of the 2 p.m. event.

The Huskers (5-2) had some uncharacteristic wobbles and landings in a loss to Minnesota last weekend.

“We just have to do a little bit better all the way around. Landings seem to be our biggest mistake throughout the meet,” coach Dan Kendig said. “When you only lose by two-tenths of a point, landings mean a lot.”

Despite the 196.300-196.100 loss, the team had some season and career highs. Grace Williams picked up another beam title — her eighth this season — with a 9.90. She ranks sixth in the nation on the balance beam.

Jennie Laeng captured another vault title and tied her season-high 9.875 for the second week in a row. Laeng now has 10 titles this season. Hollie Blanske clinched the floor event title, also tying her career high at 9.95.

“Some of the girls had a really good night,” Kendig said, “but again we weren’t able to put it all together.”
