Former Nebraska defensive back Alfonzo Dennard will next appear in a Lancaster County Court Sept. 6 for a probation violation hearing after Tuesday’s hearing was postponed.
Dennard — one of the New England Patriots’ top corners — was arrested in July in Lincoln on suspicion of driving under the influence. That’s after a jury in February found Dennard guilty of punching a police officer in April 2012 during a brief O Street melee.
At sentencing for the assault conviction, Dennard received 30 days jail time — to be served next NFL offseason — and two years of probation. Once Dennard was arrested in July on the DUI charge, prosecutors moved to revoke probation.
Dennard has an October court date on the DUI charge.
