LINCOLN — Omahan Judd Cornell was named Friday as assistant coach of the Nebraska men’s golf team.

Cornell lettered for the Huskers from 2003 to 2006. Since 2007, he has played professionally full time, competing in events on various tours, including the Tour and Dakotas Tour.

While playing at Nebraska, Cornell earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors in 2004. That same year, the Millard West graduate shared Nebraska amateur golfer of the year honors.

The Huskers begin their 2013-14 campaign Sept. 16 and 17 at the Columbia NCAA Regional Preview in Columbia, Mo.
