Nebraska may not have to wait long for another top high school target at receiver to announce his decision.

Wide receiver William Nixon of Waco, Texas, told The World-Herald on Friday that he was deciding “very soon” among the Huskers, Purdue, Baylor, Georgia Tech and Notre Dame. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound three-star prospect may become NU’s focus after Omaha Burke receiver Xavier Watts committed to Notre Dame on Friday.

Nixon visited NU in early June. He’s made official visits to Purdue and Georgia Tech. Because his dad, Jeff, is a co-offensive coordinator at Baylor, William Nixon can see that program any time he pleases.

“I think I really fit into the Nebraska offensive system as a wide receiver who can also carry the ball in the backfield or on speed sweeps,” Nixon said via message to The World-Herald.

Nixon’s area recruiter has been running backs coach Ryan Held, but Nixon said he’s also built a strong relationship with receivers coach/offensive coordinator Troy Walters.
