Xavier Watts

Omaha Burke wide receiver Xavier Watts has visited Nebraska several times and been recruited hard by Husker head coach Scott Frost. Watts is also strongly considering Notre Dame.

Social media accounts don't tell every truth, but 2020 Nebraska wide receiver commit Zavier Betts' read of 2020 Nebraska wide receiver target Xavier Watts' Instagram history suggests the Huskers have some work to do.

Betts, from Bellevue West, told 247 Sports Monday at The Opening event that he thinks Watts, who plays at Omaha Burke, is leaning toward Notre Dame based on what Betts has seen on Watts' Instagram account.

"I think he's going to go to Notre Dame," Betts said. "I hate to say it, but I think he's going to go there. Watching his Instagram posts and his stories, he's posting a lot about Notre Dame. So, I think he's going to end up there.

That's a little like tea leaves reading tea leaves, but there you have it.

Nebraska has made Watts and Betts a priority. Betts committed to NU quickly in the 2020 cycle. Watts, meanwhile, has taken his time, and is clearly looking hard at the Fighting Irish. He's visited Nebraska many times unofficially and even worked out in NU's 7-on-7 team event. So the Huskers have put in the hard work.

Notre Dame has put in its own work on Watts, hosting him for an official visit on June 21.

Since NU coach Scott Frost has returned to Nebraska, he hasn't yet missed on an in-state prospect to whom he's extended a scholarship offer. If Watts went elsewhere, he'd be the first.
