Dominick Watt

Dominick Watt signed with Nebraska's 2018 recruiting class but failed to academically qualify.

A signee in Nebraska’s 2018 recruiting class who failed to academically qualify out of high school is returning for a visit this weekend.

Dominick Watt, a four-star receiver in high school, enrolled at Garden City (Kan.) Community College, where he was a teammate of current Husker Dedrick Mills and played for a team that ran the ball almost exclusively. Watt led the team with 16 receptions for 188 yards. Watt didn’t have any touchdown catches, but Garden City only threw five last season.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Watt visited Kentucky in June. It is not clear if he has any new scholarship offers or if Nebraska would take him now.

Watt won’t be the only junior college wideout visiting this weekend.

Kilgore (Texas) College receiver Omar Manning, who has a Husker offer along with several others, will be in town, as will Butler Community College receiver/tight end DeShawn Hanika, who missed last season with a knee injury he suffered at NU’s Friday Night Lights camp last year. Hanika is working out at the second FNL camp.

More notes:

» Defensive line commit Jahkeem Green from Highland (Kan.) Community College is reportedly looking at other schools and will visit Texas Tech this weekend.

Green never signed a letter of intent with Nebraska and still hasn’t academically worked his way out of junior college. He planned on arriving after finishing online math classes. Those classes prevented Green from playing in his preferred league, the SEC, which doesn’t accept such classes.

» Nashville-area inside linebacker Devyn Bryant is scheduled for an unofficial visit to start Wednesday, two days before the barbecue weekend. Bryant, a four-star prospect out of Brentwood Academy, told Rivals this month that Nebraska wants to keep the Nashville pipeline going after signing Jackson Hannah in the 2019 recruiting class. Bryant has Kentucky, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Virginia and Vanderbilt in his top six along with Nebraska.
