For the fifth straight season, Nebraska’s in the preseason USA Today coaches poll. The Huskers are 18th.

Alabama’s the near-consensus No. 1, receiving all but four of the 62 first-place votes (Ohio State had three and Texas A&M had one).

Based on the top 25 poll, the Buckeyes are apparently the coaches’ clear favorite to win the Big Ten — because 15 spots separate OSU and the league’s next team, Michigan at No. 17.

The Wolverines, No. 21 UCLA and No. 22 Northwestern are the only three ranked opponents on Nebraska’s regular season schedule this fall. Bo Pelini is one of the 62 coaches on the voting panel.
