Attention, fashion critics (and superstitious fans): There will be a wardrobe alteration for Nebraska Saturday night.
The Huskers are out on the field at Bulldog Stadium -- sporting white jerseys and white pants. It'll be the first time since 2007 that NU's gone with the all-white look (Nebraska lost that one 65-51 to Colorado).
Why the all-whites?
Fresno State's players are wearing all-red uniforms (red jerseys and red pants). It's a red-out at Bulldog Stadium.
So that's presumably why Nebraska had to go away from its traditional road game attire: the white tops and red bottoms.
As most Husker fans are well aware, the program's recent history in all-white uniforms hasn't been great.
Nebraska went with the white-out look and lost 45-21 to Georgia Tech in the 1991 Citrus Bowl. The Huskers then lost to Washington and Iowa State the next season -- but did beat Missouri. They wore that same uniform combo for all six of their road games in 2002, winning just one of those.
And of course, there was that Colorado game seven years ago...
