Mazour earned a spot on Nebraska’s travel squad to Indiana last year and may have taken off with the opportunity if not for a concussion suffered during practice in the days leading up to the contest. The injury turned out to be season-ending and leaves the Wyoming game — he accrued no statistics that day — as the only meaningful football the redshirt sophomore has played since his time as a dynamic playmaker for Boone Central in 2014.

But the walk-on, who coach Mike Riley calls “our Danny Woodhead” factored heavily into the spring mix and showcased his skills with a dominant spring game (60 yards rushing with a touchdown and six catches for 81 yards) that featured quick bursts and broken tackles. He could play himself into a role in the backfield or as a return man before bowl season rolls around.
