The World-Herald is counting down the top 50 Nebraska players you need to know heading into the 2017 season.

Williams has been a jack of all trades the last two seasons, finding the field in nickel and dime packages as well as on special teams. Now the Atlanta native appears to have parlayed that work and experience into a starting spot at safety.

The late Bob Elliott was complimentary of Williams during spring practice when he was working with the position, calling Williams “as smart a player as I’ve ever been around.” Williams is coming off a productive season, too, contributing 62 tackles, three interceptions and seven pass breakups as a sophomore.
