Former Husker Rickey Thenarse gets prison for burglary

Former Nebraska defensive back Rickey Thenarse

Former Nebraska defensive back Rickey Thenarse on Tuesday was sentenced to 3 to 6 years in prison by a Lancaster County judge after Thenarse pleaded no contest to a burglary he conducted in Lincoln. Charges in another burglary case were dropped. 

In the burglary case for which Thenarse was sentenced, he broke into an apartment on Jan. 14, 2015, and stole DVDs. On the the day of that burglary, Thenarse had also pawned 128 DVDs at a local Lincoln pawn shop. Officers later matched fingerprints lifted from the burglary site to Thenarse. 

The second burglary, in which charges were dropped, Thenarse allegedly ransacked an apartment and tried to flee in a maroon Ford Thunderbird. 

With eight days already served, Thenarse could be eligible for parole in 18 months.
