Big Ten chief scheduler Mark Rudner told the Cedar Rapids Gazette Thursday that he expects Nebraska and Iowa to request a spot on Black Friday — that is, the day after Thanksgiving – for the Huskers-Hawkeyes matchup in Lincoln.
That would mark the third straight year Nebraska and Iowa played on the day, which affords both teams national television exposure on ABC.
Nebraska’s been playing on the day after Thanksgiving since 1990. NU played Oklahoma 1990-1995, then Colorado 1996-2010, and now Iowa.
Iowa AD Gary Barta talked of pulling out of the Friday slot after the Huskers beat the Hawkeyes 13-7 in Iowa City.
