“Shark Tank” is coming to Lincoln.
ABC’s sales pitch competition show will be in Lincoln on April 5 and 6 for an open casting call. This is the first Nebraska casting call for the Emmy-winning show, in which entrepreneurs pitch proposals to self-made moguls.
Entrepreneurs from across Nebraska and the northern Great Plains region are invited to present their ideas/products to “Shark Tank” casting producers. The trip to Lincoln was made possible by the Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The call will be April 6 at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Wristbands will be distributed to participants (one per pitch) from 9 to 11 a.m. Pitches will begin at 10 a.m. Participants won’t be pitching to the show’s sharks, but to the casting team. Those making pitches must be 18 or older or accompanied by an adult, and must be an American citizen or resident.
The one- to two-minute pitches are the first step in being considered for pitching on the show’s 11th season. On “Shark Tank,” successful investors hear pitches, seeking out the best (and most potentially profitable) ideas.
On April 5, the Engler program will host a special event at the Rococo Theatre featuring past “Shark Tank” winners, local entertainers and more.
Mindy Zemrak, the show’s casting producer, said in a UNL press release that a typical casting call will have 200 to 300 pitches, and that the producers will consider anything and everything.
