Singer and keyboard player Tara Vaughan has been an integral part of performer Billy McGuigan’s “Rock Twist” at the Omaha Community Playhouse in the last two seasons.

McGuigan’s show offers interesting takes on pop music by artists as diverse as Frank Sinatra and the Doors. Vaughan is featured on several numbers.

Now she has her own show at the Playhouse, “She Rocks,” premiering Thursday.

With songs and stories, Vaughan will celebrate women artists and songwriters such as Carole King, Janis Joplin, Linda Ronstadt, Aretha Franklin, Patsy Cline and more. It should be as eclectic as McGuigan’s show, with her own twist.

Vaughan is a graduate of Tufts University who has opened for such artists as Lifehouse, Ben Kweller and James McCartney. She also has toured internationally with McGuiganin “Yesterday and Today: The Interactive Beatles Experience,” “Rave On,” and “The Buddy Holly Experience,” in addition to “Rock Twist.”

She has released three albums; the most recent is 2016’s “Dandelion Wine.”
