Near the end of our interview, I told Five Finger Death Punch drummer Jeremy Spencer that local fans were excited to see the band.

Spencer was just as excited to be in Nebraska on the way to play Westfair Amphitheater on May 11.

"Go Huskers!" he said.

Spencer grew up loving the Huskers, and they became his favorite team.

It was about 1983, or "whenever they had Mike Rozier and Turner Gill," he said.

He turned on the TV and saw exciting football. Though he grew up in Indiana, Spencer became a Nebraska fan.

"The Indiana Hoosiers football team wasn’t lighting the world on fire at the time," he said with a laugh.

And he's stuck with it, remaining a fan through the highs and lows of Husker history.

But what about this season? Is he excited?

"I'm stoked to have Scott Frost," Spencer said.

He's also excited to maybe get back to Lincoln for a game if Five Finger Death Punch ever takes a touring break.

Spencer has toured Memorial Stadiuim, and he's looking forward to stepping back on the FieldTurf.
