We picked them for you: the biggest, the best, the coolest concerts coming this week.
1. New Kids on the Block
You ready for some nostalgia? This show has it on tap. A crazy lineup of ’80s and ’90s hitmakers includes New Kids on the Block, Salt N Pepa, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson and Naughty By Nature. It’s all going down Saturday at Lincoln’s Pinnacle Bank Arena. Tickets via Ticketmaster.
Since reforming in 2014, L.A. punk band L7 has been hard at work. Through their tours and this year’s new record, the band’s first in more than 20 years, they continue to cement their legacy as a fantastic punk/grunge act. Catch them Thursday at Slowdown. Tickets at ticketfly.com.
3. A Day to Remember
A Day to Remember will bring its “Raisin’ Hell in the Heartland” tour to Stir Cove on Friday. Featuring a hard-edged pop-punk sound, A Day to Remember has four top-10 rock albums, including its latest, “Bad Vibrations,” which hit No. 1. The band’s hit songs include “If It Means a Lot to You” and “All Signs Point to Lauderdale.” Tickets via Ticketmaster.
4. Mandolin Orange
Next week, Slowdown will have a stage and a series of bands playing outside during the College World Series. But before things get crazy, they’re welcoming Mandolin Orange to the big stage. The folk duo of Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz will bring songs from their new album, “Tides of a Teardrop,” to Slowdown on Tuesday. Tickets, $22, at ticketfly.com.
The six members of The Strumbellas make beautiful music, and new songs like “I’ll Wait” are no exception. (Its swelling melodies and gang choruses will definitely hook you.) And you can hear them live at Slowdown on Saturday. Tickets at ticketfly.com.
