“Just Like Heaven” and “Close to Me” band The Cure celebrated its 40th anniversary with an epic concert in London’s Hyde Park.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band’s “Anniversary 1978-2018 Live in Hyde Park London” will get a one-night-only screening in theaters around the world Thursday, including one at 7 p.m. at Alamo Midtown and two at 7 p.m. at Majestic.

With 65,000 fans attending, the concert took place 40 years to the weekend from when the band played its first gig.

“I was actually quite taken aback with the whole thing,” frontman Robert Smith told Rolling Stone. “It was just, like, a huge celebration of music.”

Alamo Midtown will also have special screenings of noir classic “Chinatown” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and “Weird Al” Yankovic’s “UHF” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Alamo La Vista will show the Quentin Tarantino-penned “True Romance” at 10 p.m. Saturday, Tarantino’s WWII film “Inglorious Basterds” at 7 p.m. Monday and the Charles Manson-centric “Charlie Says” at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

‘The Proposal’ screening will have special guest at Film Streams

Celebrated architect Luis Barragan’s work was locked away in a Swiss bunker after his death. “The Proposal” documents artist Jill Magid’s attempts to recover those works.

The film surrounds Magid’s offer to the owners of Barragan’s work, which took place in an exhibition also called “The Proposal.”

The film will begin showing at Film Streams’ Ruth Sokolof Theater on Friday.

At the 7 p.m. screening of “The Proposal,” the former chief curator of the Bemis Center, Hesse McGraw, will give a special intro to the documentary. McGraw actually commissioned Magid’s “The Proposal” exhibition artwork.

‘Sound! Euphonium’ anime movie gets two special shows

“Sound! Euphonium” is a novel series that was adapted into manga that was adapted into anime.

And now a film version, “Sound! Euphonium: The Movie — Our Promise: A Brand New Day,” is on its way.

Released in Japan earlier this year, the film is coming to several Omaha theaters. An English-dubbed version will screen at 7 p.m. Thursday at Twin Creek, Majestic and Lincoln Grand. An English-subtitled version will screen at 7 p.m. Monday at Twin Creek, Majestic and Lincoln Grand.
