Bemis hosts tutorial on areas for artists

The Bemis Center will host a tutorial today on creating areas for artists as part of its Sustaining Artists Series.

The panel will include Joel Damon and Josh Powell of South Omaha’s Project Project; Launa Bacon, the founder of Darger HQ; and Los Angeles artist Micol Hebron.

The program will include optional one-on-one consultations with the panelists.

10-day event offers hands-on experiences

Yelp has partnered with area businesses to put on a 10-day event celebrating local artisans and DIY experiences.

Hands-On Omaha starts Tuesday with a kick-off party at Bench, 1441 N. 11th St., including an open house, live music and food. It continues with a string art class at The Makery, 12100 West Center Road Suite 612, on March 3.

Cantina Laredo will host a guacamole-making class on March 6; Vino Van Gogh has wine and painting at Louie’s Wine Dive on March 7; and Everbloom Floral and Gift will teach floral arranging on March 8. The Apollon will host an art wrap up party on March 11, including live painting, cocktails, sculpting, poetry and music.
