BLACK FRIDAY SAVINGS From The Omaha World-Hearld!

If you just can’t wait until Thanksgiving morning, WEDNESDAY, November 22, from 2:30 - 5 p.m., we’re selling our deal-packed Black Friday Thanksgiving newspaper at four locations in the Omaha metro area:

- Crossroads Mall: 72nd & Dodge St

- Family Fare (Harvey Oaks Shopping Center): 144th & Center

- Shadow Lake Towne Center (near Michaels): Papillion

- Eagle Run Shopping Center (north of Wendy’s): 134th & Maple

Check your Local Omaha World-Hearld to make sure what times Omaha stores plan to start their Black Friday deals and sales — both online and at the store. For example, J.C. Penney is making its deals available on its website on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving for the first time.  Kohl's offered last Thursday a subset of the Black Friday deals that will be available for Thanksgiving, when it opens for the first time, it will offer "doorbusters" online starting on Thanksgiving while supplies last. In the past, doorbusters were only at the Omaha stores.

Shoppers who opted to stay home on Thanksgiving and head to the stores at a reasonable hour on Black Friday were often greeted by calm, especially at those that had opened Thanksgiving Day and remained open through Friday.

After carving the turkey and wrapping up the leftovers, thousands of people in the Omaha area flocked to local malls and shopping centers for what’s becoming its own American tradition: shopping on Thanksgiving.

They waited in line, they rushed to Black Friday doorbuster sales and they waited in more lines.

Many shoppers said they weren’t necessarily out for a specific deal on a new television set or a pair of boots. They were, well, a bit stir-crazy.
