Josh Peyton plays John McClane in “A Very Die-Hard Christmas” at the Blue Barn Theatre this holiday season.

It’s not the most important question of all time, but nevertheless, the debate rages:

Is “Die-Hard” a Christmas movie? One of the writers has said it is. Star Bruce Willis has said it’s not.

This season, it doesn’t really matter, because it’s definitely the inspiration for a holiday musical at the Blue Barn Theatre.

“A Very Die-Hard Christmas” opens Friday. The story: New York cop John McClane (Josh Peyton) wants to come to the coast to have some laughs with his estranged wife. Unfortunately, terrorists show up at the party. John, of course, has to cowboy up.

The show is the regional premiere of a piece written for the Seattle Public Theater by the comedy team Jeff Schell and the Habit. It features a 15-member cast made up of familiar names in Omaha theater, and is directed by Susan Clement-Toberer, with choreography by Melanie Walters.
