Christian Bale as Dick Cheney in "Vice."

The first trailer for Adam McKay's comedy biopic of Dick Cheney, "Vice," has dropped, and it looks fairly phenomenal.

McKay, who was nominated for the best director and the adapted screenplay Oscars for "The Big Short," has become the unlikely chronicler of our crazy times. His account of the Cheney vice presidency looks to take a similar tack as his movie about the financial crisis: make the audience laugh while also making them outraged.

"Vice" chronicles not only Cheney's time in the Bush administration, but also his earlier business and political dealings.

Christian Bale plays Cheney in the film, packing on plenty of weight and facial prosthetics to embody the most powerful VP in modern history. Bale, of course, lands the vocal patterns and facial tics perfectly.

Another treat in the trailer is recent Oscar-winner Sam Rockwell's portrayal of President George W. Bush, which appears to draw new hues out of our 43rd president. It's fitting that "Vice" is produced by Will Ferrell, who gave us the most iconic portrayal of Bush.

The trailer also gives us a look at Amy Adams as Lynne Cheney and Steve Carell as Donald Rumsfeld.

It's a hell of a cast. "Vice" also stars Tyler Perry as Colin Powell, LisaGay Hamilton as Condoleezza Rice, Bill Camp as Gerald Ford, Bill Pullman as Nelson Rockefeller and Wayne, Nebraska, native Kirk Bovill as Henry Kissinger.

The film should hit Omaha sometime around Christmas. Here's the first trailer.
