If you want a Frontega Chicken Panini or a bowl of creamy tomato soup at the Westroads, well, you're out of luck.

The Panera Bread location at the mall is closed. Jim Sadler, spokesperson for the Westroads, said Panera is building a free-standing location over the hill from Westroads, near the Costco at 123rd Street and West Dodge Road. The restaurant's voicemail said the location is permanently gone.

Sadler said the chain spot, known for coffee, baked goods and fast-casual lunch items, wasn't affected by the Flagship Restaurant Group food hall, or other mall food competition.

"They wanted to have a drive-thru," he said. The new Panera is set to open early this spring.

Sadler said the mall is working to get another restaurant in the space, which is near Von Maur, but couldn't release more information yet.
