Bohemian Cafe

The City Council voted to recommend a liquor license for a new taproom in the north section of the former Bohemian Cafe building at 1406 S. 13th St.

Omaha’s Infusion Brewing Co. is planning to open a new taproom in the former Bohemian Cafe building.

The new Infusion Little Bohemia Beer Hall will be located in the north section of the building, 1406 S. 13th St., next door to Fizzy’s Fountain & Liquors, which is due to open in the building later this year.

Owners hope to open the new Infusion location in late summer.

“We are beyond excited to be part of the rebirth of this great neighborhood,” Infusion owner Bill Baburek said in a press release. “My grandparents emigrated from Bohemia around the turn of the 20th century and settled in this area of Omaha. And, growing up in this neighborhood, I spent many evenings dining at the Bohemian Cafe.”

The 2,000-square-foot taproom will host special events, including live music on weekends. The brewery plans to periodically offer catered Bohemian dinners along with live polka music.

The taproom itself will not have a kitchen, but will offer local meats, cheeses and warm pretzels. Customers will be encouraged to bring food from neighboring restaurants.

“We want to be a great partner in the neighborhood,” Baburek said. “For me and my family, it’s like coming home again; we couldn’t pass up this opportunity.”

Infusion also plans to brew a new Czech pilsner, exclusive to the taproom, to pay homage to the former restaurant and its owners, the Kapoun family.

Infusion opened its first location in Benson in 2013. In 2016, Baburek opened a production brewery at 6271 S. 118th St. Infusion beers are currently sold throughout the state.
