The machines were crowded during the Nebraska state championship for the International Flipper Pinball Association at Benson’s Beercade. Owners of the arcade bar have plans to open a new location in Little Bohemia.

The owners of Benson’s Beercade are planning to open a second location of the arcade bar in the up-and-coming Little Bohemia neighborhood.

“Beercade 2” will be located in the former Bumper & Auto of Omaha, Inc. building at 1423 S. 13th St. Owners hope to have the new arcade bar open by the summer.

The new Beercade will be a “bigger, better and farther east” version of the current one, said John Larkin, co-owner of Beercade.

“We’ll have more space to offer some larger games that we couldn’t fit in the original Beercade,” Larkin said. The new spot will feature more Skee-Ball machines and racing games, alongside popular staples like pinball.

The building also allows for outdoor patio space, Larkin said.

“We were looking to do another one for a while, and we didn’t want to leave Omaha. We felt like Omaha can support more than one arcade bar,” Larkin said. “When you’re looking at neighborhoods, there’s plenty of people clamoring to be the next Benson, the next Blackstone, and we’re hoping Little Bohemia can be that.”

The Beercade announcement follows similar ones by several area businesses that are planning new locations in the Little Bohemia area.
