Fall is coming, which means it’s time to celebrate with beer and football.

Jerry’s Bar is starting off Omaha’s season of Oktoberfests with a watch party for the Husker season opener.

The event begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at Jerry’s, 6301 Military Ave. The game, against the University of Akron, begins at 7 p.m.

A beer garden, featuring a selection of Oktoberfest brews and grilled bratwurst, will be open all day. Guests can bring their own mugs and fill them with a half liter for $6 or a full liter for $9. Pints will be available for $6.

Shots of cherry and Apfelkorn Berentzen will be $5.

Habitat for Humanity hosts Brewhaha

Habitat for Humanity of Omaha will hold its annual Brewhaha fundraiser next week.

The event begins at 5 p.m. Sept. 5 at Stinson Park, 2232 S. 64th St. It will be rain or shine.

Local breweries and restaurants will come together in the park for a casual cocktail hour featuring live music, beer tasting and food.

Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 the day of. The event is expected to draw about 2,000 visitors.

Capitol District to host football watch parties

Downtown’s new Capitol District will open its courtyard for college football game days this season.

Every Saturday, the district will show college football games on its large LED screen. Power 106.9 hosts will be live on-site.

Capitol District bars will have food and drink specials. There will also be a photo booth and yard games.

The first watch party begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at the district, 1022 Capitol Ave.

Spirit World celebrates Jack Daniel’s birthday

Spirit World is celebrating the birthday of a man whose name is synonymous with whiskey with ... whiskey.

The Jack Daniel’s Birthday Celebration will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Spirit World, 6680 Center St. The event is free and no RSVP is required.

The event will include whiskey samples, free custom bottle engraving on any Jack Daniels purchase, drink specials and more.

There will also be a raffle for a free — empty — Jack Daniel’s barrel. To enter, stop into Spirit World between now and the event and fill out an entry form.
