Phillie band Hop Along will release its next album with Omaha's Saddle Creek Records.
The indie rock band's 2012 album, "Get Disowned," received widespread acclaim, and the group is entering the studio this week to work with producer John Agnello with plans to release the album in the spring. Agnello has worked with Kurt Vile, Sonic Youth and Saddle Creek labelmates The Thermals.
I really dig the band's "Tibetan Pop Stars," a tune with careening guitars and painful and honest vocals from Frances Quinlan. It begins so raw with riffed guitar, drums and Quinlan's voice and ends in a comforting gang vocal, sweet melodies and grooves aplenty.
Also joining up with Saddle Creek (this time for their second release) is Omaha rock band Twinsmith.
Last year's 7" single, "Honestly," was put out on the label, and Twinsmith will now release a new album made with Brandon Darner and Luke Pettipoole of The Envy Corps for its sophomore album. The album is also expected in the spring.
