Giordano's Pizza is not coming to Omaha (yet?), the deep dish pizza restaurant tweeted Wednesday.
The popular Chicago-based pizza joint held a fan vote in November asking Facebook and Twitter users to help determine its next location. Omaha beat out Des Moines, Cincinnati, Dallas and Houston in the poll, but those posts have since been deleted or hidden.
Responding on Twitter to a question Wednesday, the chain said, "We don't have any plans at the moment, but Omaha is most definitely on our radar!"
After Omaha dominated the online competition, Giordano’s didn't exactly promise to open a restaurant here.
“We are blown away by the excitement we have received from folks there,” Jessica Wenson, the restaurant’s spokeswoman, wrote in an email last year. “This competition will help us determine where to open future Giordano’s locations based on activity."
She added that locations in Omaha were "on our radar" after the vote.
