Sylvester Stallone returns to the role that made him famous in this spinoff of the Rocky franchise. Retired boxer Rocky Balboa (Stallone) has put his fighting life behind him and now owns a restaurant in Philadelphia. But when Adonis "Donnie "Johnson (Jordan), the son of his old rival, pays him a visit, he allows himself to be drawn back into the boxing world to train the young man. Along with several of his old boxing buddies, Rocky starts teaching his young protege everything he knows about fighting in the ring. After Donnie defeats a well-known local fighter, word begins to spread about his skill and his legendary trainer. Soon enough, he's contacted by" Pretty" Ricky Conlan (Bellew), the light heavyweight champion, who's on the brink of retirement and wants to make Donnie his last fight.
