Stung by criticism that his deal to avert Mexican tariffs mostly ramps up existing border efforts, President Donald Trump said in tweets Monday that Mexico had agreed to action beyond what was outlined in the Friday announcement. He said more would be revealed soon.
But Mexican Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard said Monday that there are no secret agreements. He said the governments committed only to evaluate progress in 45 days and return to talks if the flow of migrants at the U.S. border does not diminish.
Trump said Saturday that a new deal with Mexico provides for "large" sales of U.S. farm goods, but as of Monday there was no evidence of a deal. — AP
