WHERE ARE THE UPSETS?

All 21 wrestlers who came into the tournament with perfect records are in the semifinals. All but one of the 30 past champions are in the semifinals.

THIS WAS THE ONE

Scottsbluff sophomore Mario Ybarra defeated Omaha Skutt junior Jeff Heinz 2-0 at 126 pounds in Class B. Heinz was a state champion as a freshman.

CAN'T-MISS SEMIFINAL

North Bend freshman Zach Borer, on target for the state's first 60win season, is 55-1 at Class C 160 entering his semifinal with once-beaten Ryan Malasek of Central City.

ATTENDANCE GROWS

Thursday's crowd made this the third straight year for an increase in first-day attendance, with the 11,267 topping the 10,718 last year.

SURPRISES IN STORE

It might be wise to be in your seats before the 5 p.m. start to the semifinals Friday. Tournament Director Ron Higdon promises some surprises leading up to the matches.
