Three finalists for the job of city manager in Sidney, Nebraska, will be interviewed by city and community leaders Tuesday.

The finalists are Cheryl Beatty, assistant city manager and finance director of Junction City, Kansas; Dan Dean, former town manager in Mead, Colorado; and Ed Sadler, city manager of Webster City, Iowa.

Twenty people from 18 states applied. Twelve semifinalists were interviewed earlier.

Mayor Mark Nienhueser said the City Council is looking for an experienced professional who can build on the successes of the past and continue to move Sidney forward. The Panhandle community is home to the headquarters of Cabela's, the homegrown $3.6 billion hunting, fishing and outdoor retailer now dealing with an activist investor pushing for big changes in the company to boost shareholder value.

Sidney has been without a city manager since Gary Person resigned in August. He now is the president and chief executive of the North Platte Area Chamber of Commerce and Development Corp.
