Think of "The Sound of Music," The Wizard of Oz" and other memorable movies. • You probably remember a favorite scene or even when you first saw the films. • That's the connection the Cathedral Flower Festival is shooting for with this year's theme: "A Night at the Movies." • The festival runs today through Sunday and will feature floral creations inspired by more than two dozen of some of the most memorable films of the past 70 years. • "It's a chance to reminisce about the movie,'' said Brother William Woeger, executive director of the Cathedral Arts Project, which sponsors the annual festival. • The displays will also showcase costumes resembling those worn by movie characters, such as Anna's flowing gown in "The King and I" and the fun poodle skirts from "Grease." The costumes are from Omaha's Ibsen Costume Gallery, and many were created specially for the festival and will be fitted on mannequins. • The festival draws as many as 10,000 people over the weekend, and flowers will be the stars of the show. The cathedral will burst with more than 50,000 blossoms, everything from roses and carnations to lilies and orchids.
