Birthday wishes were flowing in Wednesday for the daughter of an Omaha police officer killed in the line of duty.

Officer Kerrie Orozco's daughter Olivia Ruth turned a year old Wednesday. Orozco, 29, was fatally shot May 20 on her last scheduled day of police duty before taking maternity leave to spend time with Olivia, her first child.

Olivia was born prematurely and spent three months in the neonatal intensive care unit at the Nebraska Medical Center. Orozco was saving maternity leave time until Olivia could go home.

Officer Dawn Turnbull's tweet, "Happy 1st Birthday Olivia Ruth! You are loved by your blue family. Your mama loves you so much! #kerrieon #opd #supportblue" was quickly retweeted by many well-wishers.

Donations for the Orozco family and Olivia's college education are being accepted at omahapolicefoundation.com or by mail to the Omaha Police Foundation, c/o Vic Gutman & Associates, P.O. Box 31134, Omaha, NE 68131-0134.

Orozco was shot when she and other officers tried to arrest a suspect on a felony warrant for first-degree assault. Another officer returned fire and fatally wounded the man.
