No. 12 MIAMI 64, No. 3 VIRGINIA 61: Davon Reed scored 21 points, including two free throws with 3.9 seconds remaining, and the Hurricanes (22-5, 11-4) rebounded from a 25-point thrashing at North Carolina to take sole possession of second place in the ACC. Miami, Louisville and the Cavaliers (21-6, 10-5) began the day tied with identical conference records, but Malcolm Brogdon's 28 points weren't enough, and London Perrantes' game-tying attempt from 40 feet at the buzzer missed for Virginia.

No. 25 TEXAS 71, KANSAS STATE 70: Isaiah Taylor scored 19 points, including a 3-pointer to all but ice the game for the Longhorns (18-10, 9-6 Big 12) with less than a minute to play. The Wildcats (15-13, 4-11), trailing by as many as eight in the second half, got to 66-65 before Taylor stepped back and hit a 3-pointer with a defender in his face.

VOLS' TOP SCORER LIKELY OUT Tennessee guard Kevin Punter Jr. has a stress fracture in his right foot, which likely will force the Volunteers to continue playing without their top scorer. Coach Rick Barnes announced the severity of Punter's injury Monday and described his status as "day to day." Barnes said he doesn't expect Punter to play Wednesday at South Carolina.
