Age 81 Of Omaha, NE and Paradise Valley, AZ, passed away peacefully under the loving warmth of his family on September 11, 2015 at his home in Omaha. John was born in Kansas City, MO to Teresa (Feeney) and Edward McVey, and attended De La Salle Military Academy. Upon graduation, John began working as a ire sprinkler apprentice in Kansas City, where he learned the sprinkler business from the ground up. After marrying Mary Jane Howard, they relocated to Omaha. They were happily married for 59 years, and had 5 children. In 1971, John partnered with his brother, Bill McVey, and formed Continental Fire Sprinkler Company. Continental grew to become one of the largest and most successful ire sprinkler protection companies in the United States. Operating in over 40 states with 275 employees, they sold the company to Peter Kiewit in 2007. John was a passionate man who lived life to it's fullest. His many hobbies included hunting, ishing, goling and traveling with his wife, family and friends. John was loved by all who knew him for his vivacious spirit and generous heart.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Teresa and Edward; sister, Rosemary Lagomarcino; brother, Edward McVey; and son, Kerry McVey. John is survived by his spouse Mary Jane of Omaha; his daughters, Kimberly (Kelly) McIllece of Tucson, AZ, Julie (Jeff) Petersen of Omaha, Jennifer (Edward) Storm of Omaha, and Angela (Michael) Cloine of New York, NY; daughter-in-law, Renee (Denny) Hogan; grandchildren, Ryan Jardine, Amanda Saludez, Jeff McIllece, Meagan McIllece, Christopher Storm, Matthew Storm, Andrew Storm, Ashley Quiel, Lauren McVey, Brittany McVey, John Cloine, and Ella Cloine; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
WAKE SERVICE Monday at 7 pm at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church (14330 Eagle Run Drive), with family Receiving friends 5-7 pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Tuesday at 10:30 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Entombment in Resurrection.
