Baptized into the Hope of Christ's Resurrection on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. Jerry was born on August 22, 1933 in Omaha, NE. He was the third child, and only son, of the five children of Blanche and Felix McDonald. Jerry attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and North High School in Omaha, graduating in 1951. He attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha until March of 1953 when he joined the US Army during the Korean War. After discharge from the Army in February of 1955 he returned to UNO, graduating in 1957. After graduating, he went to work for the Equitable Life Assurance Society in their management training program, starting in Louisville, KY. Upon completion of that program, he was transferred to Richmond, VA. In Richmond he met his life-long love, partner, and wife-to-be, Linda Kestner. Jerry and Linda were married in January, 1965. Their first son, Kirk, was born in Richmond in 1967. In 1968 Jerry was transferred to Springfield, MA where their second son, Kevin, was born in 1969. Jerry's career at the Equitable progressed through a series of promotions and increasing responsibility with stops in Ohio and Illinois before settling at the headquarters in New York. The family settled in New Canaan, CT for the remainder of Jerry's career at the Equitable. He retired from the Equitable in 1986 as Senior Vice President. After retirement from the Equitable in 1986 he became active in the community and real estate in New Canaan where he and Linda lived until they moved to Durham, NC in 1993. After ten years in Durham Jerry and Linda moved to Chesterfield, MO where he lived the remainder of his life. Jerry was a graduate of Harvard's Advanced Management Program, a former member of the Country Club of Darien in Darien, CT and Treyburn Country Club in Durham, NC. Most importantly though, he was a lifelong, die-hard Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Go Big Red! In addition to Linda, Jerry is survived by his sons, Kirk (Toni) of St. Louis, MO and Kevin (Ginger) of Daniel Island, SC; and grandsons, Andrew and Joshua and granddaughter Meredith.
