UPLAND, Neb. — An Upland man is accused of abusing his 2-month-old daughter.

According to a Franklin County press release, Dalton Howard, 19, is charged with one count of knowing and intentional child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.

According to court documents, the baby was taken to the Kearney County Health Services emergency room in Minden, where she was diagnosed with a brain bleed and hemorrhaging behind her eyes. She also had bruising on her face and torso, court documents say. She was treated at Children's Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha and was taken into the custody of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services on Feb. 11.

According to court records, the baby was left at home Feb. 9 with Howard and the child's grandmother while the child's 16-year-old mother was in school.

Howard is in Franklin County Jail, with bail set at $100,000.
