ALOCAL CHEF is representing Omaha in a national recipe competition featuring cooks from more than 100 cities.
Chef Matt Bohnenkamp, who works at Harold's Koffee House, will represent Omaha in the Hometown Breakfast Battle, which is sponsored by Thomas Breads, makers of English muffins and bagels, among other products. The contest is in celebration of the brand's 135th anniversary.
Each chef has created one locally inspired recipe using a variety of Thomas products. Bohnenkamp created a recipe for the Harold's Homerun Breakfast Sandwich.
Fans have two weeks to vote for their favorite chef online at ThomasBreakfastBattle.com. The votes will narrow the competition from 135 chefs to 16.
Voters will also be entered in the chance to win $10,000 and coupons for Thomas products.
