The Nebraska Arts Council has announced the honorees of the 2016 Governor's Arts Awards, which recognizes individuals and organizations for their artistic contributions to the state.

This year's award recipients and categories: Andrew Norman, executive director of Hear Nebraska (Emerging Leader); Ernest Richardson, resident conductor and principal pops conductor for the Omaha Symphony (Excellence in Arts Education); Ruth A. Meints, executive director of the Omaha Conservatory of Music (Excellence in Arts Education); the Greeley Irish Festival in Greeley (Heritage Arts); the Johnny Carson Foundation of Beverly Hills, California (Leonard Thiessen Award); Arts For All Inc. (Organizational Achievement); Joslyn Art Museum (Organizational Achievement); Jamie Burmeister (Outstanding Artist); and Margaret Hornady of Grand Island (Thomas C. Woods III Partner in the Arts).

An awards ceremony, hosted by the Nebraska Arts Council and Nebraskans for the Arts, will be held March 22 at the Embassy Suites La Vista, 12520 Westport Parkway. More information is available at
