CLASS D-1 NO. 2 BRUNING-DAVENPORT/SHICKLEY VS. C-2 NO. 3 AMHERST, 9 A.M.
At a state-leading 77 points a game, Amherst won't want to stand around. Most of the players for BDS were on its Eight Man-1 title team in football. But they won't try to run with the Broncos.
CLASS D-2 NO. 2 RIVERSIDE VS. C-2 UNRANKED CLEARWATER-ORCHARD, 10:45 A.M.
Enjoy the talents of 6-foot-5 Tanner Hudson of Riverside, who's averaging 20 points a game, and 6-8 Andy Kerkman of Clearwater-Orchard, an Augustana recruit averaging 21 points and 15 rebounds.
CLASS C-1 NO. 9 GOTHENBURG VS. C-2 NO. 2 WINNEBAGO, 12:30 P.M.
This has potential to be the highest-scoring game of the day. The state's leading scorer at 29 points a game, 6-5 junior David Wingett has led Winnebago to a 24-0 start, and its winning streak is at 44 games. Gothenburg's top player is Dawson Graham, who went for 35 points in a shootout with Ainsworth.
CLASS C-1 UNRANKED GRAND ISLAND CENTRAL CATHOLIC VS. CLASS B UNRANKED SEWARD, 2:15 P.M.
Since this is his tournament, GICC coach Tino Martinez always will include the Crusaders. By their standards, a 10-11 record is below the norm. The top scoring threat on the court will be Seward's Brevin Sloup, the school's first 1,000-point man.
CLASS C-1 NO. 2 COLUMBUS SCOTUS VS. NO. 3 ADAMS CENTRAL, 4 P.M.
Only game that pits teams from the same class. Scotus is in an offensive funk, having scored 89 points combined in losses at Wahoo Neumann and Wahoo in the past week. Adams Central dropped back-to-back games on Monday and Tuesday to Kearney Catholic and Hastings St. Cecilia, respectively.
CLASS C-2 NO. 1 HASTINGS ST. CECILIA VS. CLASS B NO. 3 SIDNEY, 5:45 P.M.
Sidney is feeling good about its home win last Saturday over Scottsbluff, but the Red Raiders could have bus lag. They have a Friday game at Chadron before coming to Grand Island. St. Cecilia, ranked eighth in the Top 10, is the returning C-2 champion.
CLASS C-1 NO. 1 WAHOO NEUMANN VS. CLASS B NO. 6 AURORA, 7:30 P.M.
How will Aurora's guards fare against Neumann's Jaxon and Ben Simons and Noah Vedral, and can the Huskies feed the ball to 6-8 Austin Allen?
NEBRASKA NO. 1 OMAHA SOUTH VS. COLORADONO. 2 AURORA OVERLAND, 9:15 P.M.
Both teams are likely to go on to state championships, so this is a cavalcade of talent. How the Packers align their defense against 6-9 Indiana recruit De'Ron Davis is just one of the storylines.
