1 Have some fun at Millard Days

2 Celebrate culture, community and creativity

The Malcolm X Food & Musical Festival will take place saturday at the Malcolm X Memorial Foundation, 3448 Evans st., from 1 to 8 p.m. The event will feature artists, food, artisan vendors, children's activities and an organic heirloom seed exchange.

3 Attend a superhero festival

The inaugural Casa superhero festival and ninth-annual 5K superhero run will take place saturday at stinson Park, 2232 s. 64th st. The run begins at 8 a.m. The festival, which is free and open to the public, will include food, live music, games and more.

4 Check out the Dog Daze of Summer Festival

The third-annual dog daze of summer Festival will take place sunday from noon to 6 p.m. at riverwest Park, 23301 West Maple road. The family-friendly event allows people to bring their dogs out for food, music, shopping and the beach. There will also be an adoption area between noon and 3 p.m. with adoptable pets from rescues and nonprofits from all over the area. This is an all-ages and all-breeds event. Tickets are $10 per dog, and humans are free.

5 Check out a renaissance festival

The second-annual Midland's renaissance Festival will take place saturday and sunday at ditmar's Orchard and Vineyard, 19475 225th st. in Council Bluffs. The event will include a jousting tournament, fire juggling, a magic show, swordplay, an artisan market, hands-on activities for kids and adults, a food court and more. Cost is $12 for adults and $5 for kids ages 5 to 15. The festival will go from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days. For more information, visit midlandsrenrevel.com.

6 See a collectible toy show

The Midwest Collectible Toy show will take place sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Omaha Fire Fighters union hall, 6005 grover st. The event will include a lineup of new and vintage pop culture collectibles, including star Wars, star Trek, Lego, dC and Marvel superheroes and more. 402 BBQ will be serving food from the venue kitchen. The event is free.

7 Go swimming with your dog

The Meadows Community Center pool will host a doggie dip on sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Cost is $5 per dog and two owners. Each additional owner will be $1. The community center is located at 13937 Meadow ridge road.

8 Attend a Princess Waffle Breakfast

Come to hy-Vee, 1000 s. 178th st., to celebrate National Waffle day with princesses. The event will include a knee-high buffet from 8 a.m. to noon, which will include freshmade waffles, eggs, bacon and more. There will also be a princess meet-and-greet from 10 a.m. to noon.
