Express blast to sweep of Chasers

OMAHA AT ROUND ROCK

7:05 p.m. Friday • 1180 AM KZOT Dell Diamond, Round Rock, Texas Omaha RH Andy Ferguson (4-0, 0.85 at Class AA Northwest Arkansas) vs. RH Jerad Eickhoff (2-2, 5.32)

ROUND ROCK, Texas — Round Rock used the long ball to sweep Omaha on Thursday.

The Express belted five home runs to take both ends of a doubleheader at Dell Diamond, beating the Storm Chasers 8-5 and 2-0 to even their season series at three games apiece.

Rougned Odor, Hanser Alberto and Jake Smolinski went deep in consecutive innings in the opener as Round Rock tagged starter Jonathan Dziedzic for eight runs in his debut with Omaha. Every Express player had at least one hit in the victory other than former American League MVP Josh Hamilton.

Michael Choice and Trever Adams, who played collegiately at Creighton, hit back-to-back solo shots off Casey Coleman in the second inning to account for all of the scoring in the nightcap. Five Round Rock relievers combined to blank the Chasers on five hits. They were 0 for 9 with runners in scoring position.

Five Omaha players had two hits apiece in the first game. Cheslor Cuthbert drove in a pair of runs.

Andy Ferguson, unbeaten at Class AA Northwest Arkansas this spring, will make his season debut for the Chasers in Friday's series finale. It will be Hamilton's last game with Round Rock before moving to Class AA Frisco for the weekend as he works toward rejoining the Texas Rangers.
