FRESNO, Calif. — After losing a pair of 2-1 games the first two days, Creighton gave up five runs in the first three innings of a 7-3 loss as Fresno State swept the series.

The first inning was a sign of things to come Sunday.

The Bluejays loaded the bases with one out in the top of the inning, but hit into a double play to end the threat. Fresno State, meanwhile, scored an unearned run in the bottom of the first, scored another on a groundout in the second and then Aaron Arruda delivered the key blow, a three-run homer in the third.

The Bulldogs tacked on another run in the fifth before Brett Murray hit an RBI triple to center to get Creighton on the board in the seventh. Keith Oren followed with an RBI single. Oren added an RBI single in the ninth.

Anthony Arias got the win, allowing one hit in six shutout innings. Creighton starter Keith Rogalla took the loss, allowing three hits, three walks and four earned runs in 21⁄3 innings. The Bluejays used eight relievers after that.

Creighton returns to action Friday at Stetson.
