WACO, Texas — Baylor fired coach Steve Smith after the Bears had their fewest wins since 1981.

Smith's firing after 21 seasons was announced in a release from the school Sunday, a day after the Bears lost 4-0 to Texas in the Big 12 tournament to finish 23-32. The Bears have had three losing seasons in a row since winning the program's third Big 12 title in 2012.

Smith was 744-523-1 at Baylor. The Bears went to 13 NCAA regionals during his time there and made it to the College World Series in 2005.
