Amy Grant shares stage with Steven Curtis Chapman

AMY GRANT has a shelf full of Grammy Awards and several platinum plaques, but she's still excited to play music.

This week, she'll share the stage with the equally accomplished Steven Curtis Chapman at Ralston Arena, one stop of their short tour.

Grant and Chapman will perform together during the entire show.

"We're both going to be out there together the whole time," Grant said. "(Chapman) suggested one of my songs to open with that we're both going to sing. We (also) combined our bands. Everybody had to be engaged in everything."

Grant thinks every night will be different as the famous pair learns each other's performing styles. Though both run in the same circles, they haven't always been close.

Figuring out a setlist has been fun, Grant said. They wrote down songs on sticky notes and arranged them on a table as they tried to figure out what songs would be best and which compositions would play to their strengths as a duo.

After that and rehearsals, they're very comfortable together now.

"We really have enjoyed each other's company," Grant said. "Wouldn't it be awful if you booked a short run and didn't get along? That would be so unpleasant."
