Alamo Drafthouse Omaha is dropping ticket prices.

The theater, which opened last fall in La Vista, has lowered its admission by $1 across the board.

Evening tickets now are $9.50, while matinee shows are $6.50. Student and senior discounts drop to $6.50 Monday through Friday and return to $7.50 on weekends.

Signature programming and special events admission remain the same.

The Alamo also has introduced a $5 early bird ticket. Monday through Friday, the first show of the day in each theater will be $5. The early bird ticket is similar to the morning-show discounts that theaters offer throughout the metro area.

Derek Michael Dillon, creative manager of Alamo Drafthouse Omaha, said the change in prices "comes from us getting used to the market, understanding the market and adapting to the cinema environment that currently exists in Omaha."

"But at the end of the day it all circles back around to the customer experience," he said. "So if dropping our prices by a dollar and adding a $5 early bird ticket accomplishes that, then we are happy to make the change."
