PHOENIX — Jaime Delor scored an acrobatic goal in the 81st minute to break a scoreless tie and carry Grand Canyon to a 1-0 victory over No. 20 Creighton at GCU Stadium on Friday night.

As Creighton goalkeeper Paul Kruse attempted to head a ball away from the box, Delor leaped from 17 yards out and drove a bicycle kick into the empty goal to give the Antelopes (2-0-0) their second consecutive win over a top-20 opponent. GCU shut out No. 12 Wisconsin on Aug. 24.

The Jays earned a 17-12 shot advantage, but GCU goalie George Tasouris saved six to earn the shutout.

After beating Clemson 2-0 in their season opener, the Jays have failed to score in the past two games, including a scoreless draw with UC Davis on Sunday. The Jays (1-1-1) have gone the last 248 minutes and 37 seconds without a goal.

The Jays’ best chance came in the 14th minute when Yudai Tashiro crossed on a corner kick, and Mitch LaGro beat Tasouris with a header. But an Antelope defender stopped the ball short of the goal line.

The Jays will travel to South Florida on Monday.
