25 Days of Jays: No. 5 Jaylyn Agnew

Creighton's Jaylyn Agnew is a versatile defender (able to guard multiple positions) and a skilled scorer (she shot 40.1 percent from 3-point range last season).

The World-Herald is counting down the 25 must-see athletes across all Creighton sports to help usher in CU's 2018-19 athletic season, which kicks off Aug. 19.

Jaylyn Agnew

Basketball • Junior forward

Agnew followed her Big East freshman of the year campaign in 2016-17 with one of the better sophomore seasons in the league. Her point production doubled (from 7.1 points per game as a freshman to 14.5). She also increased her rebounds per game (3.5 to 6.3) and blocks per game (0.65 to 1.3).

The conference rewarded her with a spot on the All-Big East second team. The potential remains sky high for the player from Andover, Kansas. Coaches encouraged her last season to be more assertive on the court, and they’ll presumably ask her to do even more next season.

She’s a versatile defender (able to guard multiple positions) and a skilled scorer (she shot 40.1 percent from 3-point range last season). Agnew is in store for another special year.
