25 Days of Jays: No. 12 Isaac Collins

Creighton second baseman Isaac Collins has spent his summer showing off his skills in the Cape Cod League. He batted .308 (11th-best in the league) during the regular season, leading his team with five stolen bases and finishing second with 27 runs scored.

The World-Herald is counting down the 25 must-see athletes across all Creighton sports to help usher in CU's 2018-19 athletic season, which kicks off Aug. 19.

Any lingering effects of a mini-sophomore slump have certainly worn off this summer. Collins saw his batting average dip from .282 as a freshman to .266 this spring. He still produced a .381 on-base percentage, but he finished Creighton’s season on a 4-for-24 skid.

The struggles did not last. Collins has spent his summer showing off his skills in the Cape Cod League. He batted .308 (11th-best in the league) during the regular season, leading his team with five stolen bases and finishing second with 27 runs scored. He did most of it while playing a new position, too: right field. His talent will aid the Jays next year.
